Blessed and Highly Favored

Blessed and Highly Favored

When asked how he is doing, Terry Schmidt answers, "Blessed and highly favored." These words demonstrate Terry's positive outlook as well as his deep faith. "I'm proof God can take a 'rough-around-the-edges' country kid and bless him in so many ways. He's made a way for me soooo many times."

One of the many ways God has blessed Terry is through the Keenan Ranch in Wray, Colorado. Terry's great grandparents, Joseph and Harriet Keenan, came out West in a covered wagon in 1885. Soon afterward, they acquired ownership of the Ranch. Many years later, ownership of the Ranch passed outside the family.

Terry purchased the Ranch almost 100 years later and has spent the ensuing years making improvements and sharing its beauty and history with others. "At the time I bought the Ranch, I was on a very limited budget. The Lord made a way for me to buy it. It really belongs to God-I'm just trying to be a good steward of the land and a good neighbor to the community. What a privilege to go over the same trails as my pioneer great grandparents, grandparents, and parents."

Terry supports American Bible Society because the ministry and mission resonate with him. "God spoke our existence with words. What greater calling than to share the Bible with people who need it!" said Terry. "Sharing God's Word with those who need it is more valuable than rubies, diamonds, and gold."

We are blessed to call Terry Schmidt a friend and a supporter. Our National Director of Gift Planning, Rob Smith said, "Terry is a wise steward. He transferred the Keenan Ranch into a Charitable Remainder Trust with ABS which enables him to receive a lifetime income that he greatly appreciates while also providing for Bible provision after he graduates to Heaven."
